Hey everybody. So I have my TravelMate C314, an EZDock, two external hard drives, wireless mouse/keyboard, etc. etc.

What i'm wondering is, is there a way i can connect my laptop to a desktop, and share an external monitor, so I have a complete workstation? I'm wondering because I take my tablet with me to class all the time, which means i can't leave it running with some mudane task like downloading or converting files. If there was a way I could connect a desktop to my setup so I could use the desktop and laptop simulateouly (and sort of as one machine) while i'm at home, but then leave the desktop doing whatever while i take my tablet to class, it would really make my life a lot easier, haha.

if anyone has any suggestions on this, please let me know. i'm not sure if this is even possible at this point, but i figured i'd cast out a line and hope for a bite. thanks.

You can get what is called a KVM switch (Keyboard Video Mouse) and connect both computers to it.

You can also try Remote Desktop to access the desktop machine. With it you can share drives as well as the desktop.

Between the two you can have both a wired and a wireless solution. With the proper setup you would be able to check up on the download progress from your neighborhood starbucks.

I would go with a KVM solution.

You could also share a mouse and keyboard. They can range from $20 - $100 for a decent one for your needs. I just got the Linksys 2-port integrated KVM switch, it has good reviews from Newegg and I am just waiting on it now.

Basically it allows you to share 1 Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse between 2 computers.

So you could switch between the two computers while working.

    Just to update..

    I got everything now.

Using my C204TMi, an Logitect MX500 mouse, and Logitech Elite Keyboard, I've plugged in everything into my Linksys KVM.

All my special keys work. I hit the "Scroll Lock" key twice to switch computers, and it takes about 2 seconds to switch. The mouse has lots its application switching function, but scroll, side buttons work. Should mention that unless when I turn on the tablet, I have to set the kvm to switch to that computer otherwise mouse/keyboard doesn't work properly.

When setting up the monitor for your tablet, be sure to set it to either clone or extend your desktop in the Nvidia control panel otherwise you will get no display on your monitor.
