I really like the new version (4.11A) of the ThinkVantage Access Connections networking utility. It's 100 times more responsive than before and looks pretty slick.

However, one network I frequently connect to is a problem for the new software. It uses static 64-bit WEP keys, and I have to give it 4-5 tries before it actually gets an IP address. It usually fails right at the end when trying to get an IP at the end. Sometimes I'll see it get the IP (in the taskbar) but then it'll immmediately disconnect.

Unfortunately I don't know what kind of router hardware this network uses.

Anyone else had a similar problem?

Yes, I've had this issue as well. I set the ecrypted network as a default profile to be auto-managed by Access Connections (always on when the router is in range). When returning from standby or hibernate, it fails connection about 1/3 of the time. On restart, it fails only 1/10 or so. I just right-click the Access Connections task-bar icon and open Access Connections. Click Connect & it works. Not sure why, but this work around works when needed.

Others have recommended ditching AC, but I actually like it's functions & the power that it has to retain settings, especially since I'm using the Beta IE7, and want my settings "where I can see them".
