Also, when I start my computer it hangs at an empty blue background after I've logged in for almost a few minutes before the icons show up. This seems like something other than a long loading time. Any ideas?
Hi all,
I hope someone can help me with this. I applied the memory tweak shown on a website recommended on the forum. (#5 on http://kadaitcha.cx/performance.html) The tweak improved my performance considerably, but it also managed to disable my wireless card and my ethernet card, and I can't figure out how to turn it back on without reversing the memory tweaks. Do the ethernet cards require a hard drive cache? For reference, I believe I have the intel a/b/g wireless card.

Hmmm.
First things first is to head to Control Panel> System> Hardware & verify that those network adaptors are enabled & functioning.
Then make sure that the wireless light is on below your screen. If not, the setting can be found in IBM'a built-in software (for instance click the Access IBM button & go to Configure).
If none of the above work, you may have a conflict elsewhere in the system, which appears similar to the experiences in this thread:

Hope these help & good luck!
