From the article: "Meanwhile, other companies such as Motion Computing are looking in the other direction and aim to bring out tablets with 14-inch screens, two inches larger than the largest ones on the market in the more immediate future. "

Is this for real? When is this planned to be released? Someone define "more immediate future."

    Personally, I would LOVE a 14" motion w/ a Centrino processor.

Yeah, I saw that too.... I'm not sure if that's based on insider info or misinformation; Acer has certainly been slated (no pun intended) to come out with a 14" display. If Motion could produce a 14" with the same form factor as the M1200, that would be a neat trick, but I'm in two minds about going much larger than 12"; I think at some point you reach an ergonomic limit where you don't really want to be dragging your hand across screen realestate. Personally I'd be a very happy camper if they could produce a 1400x1200 display with the current screen size; screen resolution (and the graphics driver) are the biggest limitations to my current use, not screen size, battery life or CPU speed.

Yes it is true that Motion is thinking about a 14" display. A recent group of business graduate students at the U. of Texas in Austin were given some to test. I wonder if the Centrino chip is involved and when they plan to launch.

I love my 12" screen, but I can't see a 14" screen being more useful. I'm looking forward to the smaller tools. I want the tablets to drop below one pound.

I could see graphic/cad/architectural uses for a 14" screened tablet. It wouldn't help me from a portability standpoint. 12.1 is the sweetspot for me.

I, for one, would sell my 12" Toshiba 3500 for a 14" Motion (or other tablet) in an instant. I use journal all the time for note-taking, working on an 8.5" x 11" template for the page. Unfortunately, with a 12" screen you have to scroll from side to side in order to make use of the entire page while in portrait mode (very annoying). A 14" screen would solve that problem immediately.

That aggravated me the first week too. I wound up setting Journal to view full screen, and setting zoom to page width. It is a slight reduction from actual, but hasn't be a problem for me.

Unfortunately a 14" Motion would provide only a slightly larger drawing surface and it will probably come with an increase in weight. I support an architectural firm and we would be more interested in a 30"x 42" display used in conjunction with a more portable solution. Perhaps a 30" smart display mounted to a drafting board? If the cost of LCD panels continues to fall this could very well become a digital drafting board for the near future.
