When I attempt to shut down/turn off my tablet,

When I attempt to shut down/turn off my tablet, nothing happens. I go through the normal steps of start>turn off comp>turn off but it won't shut down. I'll do a restore to see what happens. I just went through and took care of spyware/malware this weekend. I don't think anything in that process should cause this. It was working fine until this evening. I did try to attempt changing the appearance of my desktop, but that gave me problems as well. Any thoughts?


The restore seemed to work, but of course I lost everything I did since then. What could the problem have been?

I believe it's a registry corruption. The easiest fix is what you did: a restore. Shouldn't recur, though.

The restore seemed to work, but I still kept having problems. I keep getting an error message for "DrWatson Postmortem Debugger." I'm not sure if I have a virus or spyware/malware on here. Like I said, I cleaned the computer on Saturday. I must have done something to cause this problem. The other thing I did was turn on the Ink Desktop. It's confusing. I'm going to run multiple virus/spyware/malware scans to try to clean up again. Any other thoughts??

I'd run a registry cleaner. See if that works. Dr. Watson is a Windows debugger, so something got corrupted. Could also be a key DLL file.

The computer shuts down now. It has trouble booting up though.My next option, if no one has any other ideas, is just to reinstall the OS. Any more help would be great!

Reinstalling the op sys will not necessarily errase your existing data.
Repairing an existing installation is one of your choices.

Change bios to boot from CD
External keyboard is required.

Well, I set up a new user account & am determining it is a spyware issue. I'm going to try some more steps before a reinstall.
