Default Is it possible to use the Wacom Penabled drivers

Is it possible to use the Wacom Penabled drivers on the TC1000 to be able to use my Wacom Graphire pen on the tablet so I can have the eraser (and pressure sensitivity if possible)? I know the pen that comes with it uses Finepoint and Wacom doesn't list it as an OEM that provides the Penabled interface, but could you load the drivers for it and still be able to use the different pen? This is currently the only thing keeping me from getting the Compaq model, if anyone has any info please let me know.

    Sinistrx,

No, it isn't possible. The Wacom pens are not compatible with the FinePoint digitizer hardware. Sorry. We'll have to wait until the finepoint guys release a mulit-cursor pen.

Lar is right. I have a Wacom Intuos 2 pad, and I did try the pen -- no go. Installing the Wacom driver would be pointless without the Wacom digitizer.
However, I do have the Win/XP Tablet Edition installed on my Dell notebook, and the Wacom Tablet, pen, etc. work great there. That is my development environment, I do actual testing on my TC1k.

I too really wish my TC1000 had the eraser tip -- that would be a MAJOR improvement in my book. Or even the ability to use the pen button to erase would be good....

Are there any Tablets that offer eraser points on the other end?

Thanks for the info I'm glad I didn't waste the money on the TC1000. Compaq needs to quit cutting corners they had an ALMOST perfect machine for what I need be it it's the only one with an nVidia card. (:

As for the Dell, how did you do that? Can you install XP/TPC on any notebook and do the same thing? Or do you need to turn the screen into a custom digitizer using a lot of technical knowledge I DO NOT possess. (: What Dell model is this btw?

James, any of the Wacom digitizer based Tablets can be used with a pen with the eraser on the other end. Although my Motion, for example, didn't come with an eraser pen, I just ordered one from Wacom, and am happily using it. Here's where we're getting them: http://www.wacom.com/tabletpc/accessories.cfm

Does anyone know if this next Compaq TPC coming out supposedly in May or the 2nd half of this year will have a Wacom based digitizer (penabled) or will it be proprietary? I'd really like to be able to use my Wacom pen on it, and Compaq seems to be the only company that has sense enough to use the nVidia chip.

Does the wacom pen fit into the holster on the Motion as well as the stock pen? I notice the stock pen has a little knook in it to pull it out of it's holster more easily.
