Just received my unit from Shanghai today[bday]
It seems very slow to boot as compared to other Tablets/XP Notebooks I have. There is a long delay on the "boot up" screen - the one that says Gateway and then allows you to press either F2 or F8. I cannot figure out how to bypass this screen quickly like all of my other PCs do. I'd like for this to be very quick..like less than 1 second without user input needed.
Any ideas Tableteers/Tabletitians
This seems to be related to your DVD drive post, SuperChicken, so it would seem that your problem IS with the DVD drive, as problems with the system "seeing" your DVD drive would cause the slow boot that you are describing.
Try removing the DVD drive and see if the system boots faster.
Interestingly, if I remove the drive completely and reboot...the boot sequence does speed up to normalcy!!
Just a quick follow-up. It does appear the DVD drive is defective and that during start-up, the boot up was slow becuase the BIOS was trying to communicate with the drive - which wasn't talking back. Ejecting the drive remedied the slow boot up. A new drive os on the way and I will post back the results of the new drive.
Glad to see that the disk eject returned the boot up to normal and thanks for letting us know that you have a new drive on the way:-)
