Default I am on my third install/try of vista on my tecr

I am on my third install/try of vista on my tecra machine. In case anyone tries it don't install Toshiba's rotation driver it will blue screen on every shutdown. Everything else seems to work driver wise. The new tablet features look cool but I haven't had time (due to reinstalling) to test them out fully.

I just saw this on MSDN this evening, will try it in the AM at work when I can download from our T1... go to BFE, turn right on the gravel road, then left on the dirt road at the big rock has some disadvantages - 2 gig download on an ISDN would not be fun

Thanks for the tip on the rotation driver...

I haven't had any luck getting rotation or the correct video drivers working on any of my TPCs (5270 and back). Its pretty shaky getting any of the OEM drivers working right. Its a lot cleaner feeling than the old versions. I like the change in flicks, feels more intuitive.

Just in case anyone else is using this build. If you enabled the pretty aero/glass/whatever effects inking with all applications becomes nasty and slow. Not such a big deal such you can enable/disable it in realtime with the hotkey... The mobility center does have a rotation button, not sure if you can hotkey that. The bluetooth drivers seem iffy, I can't get my bluetooth cell phone modem to work. Also you can get the sound drivers via the automatic updates.

Want to take pictures of a Tablet PC in different states with Vista running just to show the look of it? I am just running Windows XP with BBlean or and Ubuntu on the m200....2 years, wow. This Tablet PC will stay with me till the summer. 2.5 years is a lot for me : ). Would be fun to install MacOSx86 on it.

I took pictures of the Tablet stuff in vista:

    Start Menu's preinstalled tablet software

    Neat flick feature:

Keyboard you can resize but the Home/Pgup/etc stayed fuzzy for me

    TIP:

Mobility Manager (keeps crashing on moi)

Window switcher because its cool looking:

Vista changes the pointer when using a pen and gives visual feedback when clicking or holding down the pen button. You can also train it to your handwriting. And the built in speech recognition seems sweet, even though I don't think my mic array is working correctly with the drivers I have. My favorite feature is being able to alt-tab to the desktop :D

How do you get the 3D window view?

I used the driver via windows update. To do the glass stuff you need to open up regedit and goto HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ and add a new key called DWM. Then create a DWORD name UseMachineCheck with the value of 0 under the DWM key. Then all you have to do is hit ctrl+shift+f9 to enable/disable the glass effects. The glass has to be enabled for the 3D window view to work. As I said before the ink is all ucky when glass is enabled.

I didn't get it in my screen shots but they do have setup for the future tablets that will be touch sensitive.
