Default Has anybody got the Japanese/Chinese engines wor

Has anybody got the Japanese/Chinese engines working to the level the English
    speech engine is?
I played with the Japanese TTS:
    • its recognition is limited to about a line at a time
      - maybe a dozen words
    • Lot of kinks in it the UI
    • you have to use the separate window to activate it
    • keep resetting with a right click whenever you have a new selection

The voiceware products look good (www.voiceware.co.kr) -- not sure if anybody experienced them

I would appreciate any good pointers/advice

(I also installed the MUI on the tablet -- so far it doesn't seem to help that much)

    Hi RR,

I live in Japan and have the T4020D with English OS as a basis and I use VMWare to run Japanese OS for software testing purposes. I also have the Japanese language pack installed in the English OS so I can write and read Japanese in that as well. The speech recognition in my Japanese OS (from within VMWare) works, but...

Personnaly, with the current state of affairs ,I think the speech recognition built into the MS products is a waste of time and a source of major irritation. Many things that are inefficient and do not work properly. I don't know the Voiceware stuff, but I it seems the Japanese part is still in development. No price info yet either so I have my doubts...

Sorry, not much to go with I guess. Good luck.

    Leon,
    Thanks for the input.
I found that the english speech recognition is quite good (with a $10 mic, but bad with the bluetooth headset)
Do you know anybody with Japanese OS and Japanese speech on? (or Chinese)
(this involves the MUI on winXP + speech, or with office suite)

The Japanese TTS voice is not so good, but the recognition of Kanji is decent enough. The UI part was bad.
I don't want to be shelling out money unnecessarily on those tools at this point.
    ciao
