Default Hey all, All users of X41T, i want to buy a X41

    Hey all,
All users of X41T, i want to buy a X41T but iam afraid from its screen as i didnt see it. You've all seen the new technology Trubrite, Crystalview, Truelife... with these screens i was able to read on the screen no matter where i sat.

i have an old laptop i hate its screen, if iam not sitting 90 deg to it i cant see anything, everything turns negative. Does X41T have this problem?

Can you rate Trubrite and X41T screen on scale 1-10 please.

    Thanks alot.

The screen is very easy to read "off axis". From the Lenovo web site:

Improved visibility is available with the 12.1” Super Wide Viewing Angle XGA screen providing 170° viewing with a standard anti-glare screen coating.

A lot of tablets now come with wide angle screens (but not all).

Are Trubrite, Crystalview, Truelife those LCD screens with glossy surface?

Those glossy LCD screens look bright and display richer colours, but based on my limited appearance, strong glare is often a problem and they're definitely not "able to read no matter where", unless you always sit in a sealed dark room.

Ditto. There are several students in my classes with screens like that and if you fold down their screens as if it was a tablet, they become unreadable underneath the lights. They look quite nice when in laptop mode though!

OK thanks alot, that sums it. So you are saying that the screen of the X41 is very much readable no matter what are the circumstances ?

Iam just making sure because i dont want an unreadable screen. Or a screen that would kill my neck because i cant move my head inorder for me to read.

    Regards.

That's not what I said... The X41's screen is not an indoor/outdoor screen like Motion's View-Anywhere. All I meant is that the surface is not as prone to glare as the shiny "prettier" screens like the ones you listed. In direct sunlight the X41 gets pretty washed out. Under bright flourescent lights it can be a tad difficult to read at times (but it hasn't been a problem for me.)

Incidently, I have compared my X41 to the Tru-Brite screen directly (on a Qosmio or however the heck it's spelled). The TruBrite was brighter, sharper and the colors were more vivid. However, like I said, once ANY other light source entered the equation, things started to go downhill for the beast (have you seen those things? they are huge!). I could see my reflection clearly in the screen it was so shiny. Folded flat against the desk, the screen just looked like a mirror of the ceiling. Clearly, it was not designed for particularly bright areas. Heck, the thing was barely even portable! If that guy had to carry his mobile around on a bike like I do - he'd pass out, but I bet movies look pretty!

Not all models that use such screens are desktop replacement style, I've seen a few very portable ones use them as well.

But the issue you described applies to both.

Overall, I would say, the X41T's traditional style screen is much more suitable for everyday use.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to imply that all TruBrite models were behemoths, just that one. It's as wide as my desktop keyboard! (the Qosmio, that is)
