I'd buy it for $100.

On the info given is it repairable? If so then I might get it for my students to use.
Thanks!
I'd buy it for $100.
Hi Mr H
If you're lucky, it's just that the hard drive needs to be re-seated.
Not quite so lucky, the hard drive needs to be replaced.
Write-off if it's the motherboard.
Good luck!
You can't really tell. It could be really simple, it could be a nightmare. I have bid on things like that before - when doing so the best idea is to pick the worst case scenario and bid accordingly. Assume that it has a serious hardware fault and decide if you can either live with it not booting up sometimes, or stopping when it is going, or repairing it (either yourself or sending it away).
I think I'd take a reasonable chance. If the unit powers up and can't find the hard drive, our repair experience is that it is normally a poorly seated hard drive or cable. Next is that the disk needs to be reimaged. If the drive is bad it can be replaced.
You know what they say - buyer beware and carpe diem!
Thanks for the replies folks! I figured as much myself but was looking for some assurance I suppose. I may gamble on replacing the hard drive as the worst case, fingers crossed that it won't be the motherboard, and put a bid in if the price stays within reasonable bargain limits!
Sold for £304 inc shipping (about 524USD) in the end.
Too much I think?
I thought it was probably understandable - it is good if someone can get it going, not so good if they can't.
It is pretty cheap for a ST4121.
