Well,
Just today I was playing around with backing up some data and my DVD+-RW drive no longer recognizes burnt DVDs. This is not a software problem as Windows does not even recognize them. Any suggestions?

I have fixed the problem by restoring the system. I have no idea what caused the problem. Thanks for posting though.
I guess I still have no idea what caused the problem. I finished restoring all of my old programs and what not and it has died again. The only things that would affect (I think) would be the window's HiMAT update (which has now been uninstalled) and the NTI burining sofware (which used to work and has been un and re installed). So I think there is something funtamental. CDs work fine. I really don't know where to go from here. I know the drive works so calling Acer and having them replace it wouldn't be in my best interest as they will want the whole system and I know that the drive is fine.
Right, so 112 reads an only one person could supply me with any advice. After I reinstalled windows the DVD drive read a burnt DVD and then after installing all the old software (assuming the problem was fixed) and it stopped working. Please help, I really don't know what to do.
Fooby12,
My son's C300 did the same thing. Read/played CDs great, DVDs were ignored. Long story short, it was the drive. We swapped drives (I have a C300 also) and the problem went away (for him). I think the DVD and CD circuitry are separate and one can fail.
Bought a replacement CD/DVD, plugged it in and never looked back.

Hey great!
Thanks so much. I guess I'll have to call Acer and get them to send me a new one. Hopefully I won't have to work with sending in the whole system. Thanks again.
