It didn't seem to happen before but just now when the stylus is close to the screen which they're interacting (i.e. the pointer moves with the stylus tip), a high pitch "squeeze" sound is heard.

Any of you seen this sympton before...?

I just started noticing this yesterday! The sound exists whether or not the stylus is close to the screen, but gets much louder when the stylus gets close. Also, the noise does not seem to exist all the time, for instance, I can't "make it work" right now. The noise is coming from the internal speaker, however.

I have no idea what causes this or, more importantly, how to fix it. I am very interested in getting rid of it though.

IIRC, there were a few Palm devices that had the similar problem...

    Yeah, this...

Sounds like it could be radio interference making its way into the amplifier that drives the speakers. You may notice the same effect from time to time if you keep a cellphone near your car stereo.

But why would having the stylus near the screen make the RFI stronger?

For some reason changing your Power Schemes tends to temporarily fix the problem.

I did a little playing around with power schemes... changing to "maximum battery life" makes the sound much quieter, but does not eliminate it altogether. Now, as I type this, the sound has almost stopped, even though I haven't changed anything else. Now it is very quiet but does not get louder when the stylus is near the screen.

Maybe this is off-the-wall but it's all I've got: Could the digitizer be picking up RFI (the stylus might then be acting as an antenna)? I'm not sure how the digitizer could be connected to the speaker, but I'm not sure how else to explain the stylus having an effect. Of course, this doesn't readily explain why power-modes seem to have an effect either.

Has anyone called Lenovo about it?

I'm having the same problem. Every time it stops buzzing after a reboot. So I think it could be solved by software even if it is a hardware problem.

Umm... That's strange... Anyway, it's more of a nuisance than a show-stopper for me, I can only make out the sound when I'm in a very quiet room, and it doesn't always happen.

First post from an X41 loaner system...

My normal machine is an HP TC1100 and this buzzing problem was very common - you might want to check that forum for ideas. I think that forum found that disabling a USB hub fixed the problem.
