    Hi,

    I had 512 MB originally, and I just installed the Kingston KVR533D2S4/512. On the BIOS, it says I have 1024 MB, but on Windows Task Manager, it only lists 917 MB total. As a pc novice, I may be asking a hopelessly stupid/silly question so help me: is there anything wrong with this? Or is that normal?

    It's normal to lose a portion of your 1GB as part of your RAM is used by the intel integrated graphics controller.
