I was wondering the same thing about the TC4200. Specifically, will upgrading the factory installed module void the warranty??
Thanks,

Will upgrading my RAM void the TC1000's warrenty?

From what I read on the TC-One-Thousand websit, in my case I'm only looking at putting RAM into the empty slot (won't touch the current factory RAM).
I've got a feeling though that both will void the warrenty.
Putting a RAM board into the easily accessible, open slot should not affect your warranty, unless you carelessly do some type of damage while inserting the board (like forcing it in backwards and breaking the socket). Of course, you can always just pop the RAM board back out before sending the unit in for a warranty repair.
However, if you open the TC1100 to replace the internal RAM board, that would technically void your warranty.
Common sense would dictate that anything that can be easily accessible by the user (in the case of the TC1*00, the WiFi card, second RAM slot, battery, and even the hard drive) could be replaced/upgraded by the user without affecting the warranty. On the other hand, opening the computer case to access the computer's innards would void the warranty, especially if it were obvious that you had done so. If you are concerned about trying, a quick call to HP would resolve any questions.
I've been using an extra 512MB in my TC1100's slot for two years now. I've had to send it in twice before for warranty related stuff. The least you can do is just take out the extra stick of RAM before you mail it. ;) But other than that, they don't seem to give me any flack for it.
Cool, thanks for the replies guys. I take it that there's no seals or anything that are broken when installing the RAM either then - I just remember seeing on computer hardware previously sticker/seals that say "Warrenty void if seal broken" and that you know?
Anyways, as soon as my TC1000 gets back from HP I'll whack some extra RAM in her.
Two screws are all you need to remove. Apparently it's easy to get the RAM in but not fully seated, so make sure it is in the whole way, but don't force it.
