    Greetings all,

I've recently purchased a used stylistic 3500 and discovered your great forum. I found it quite informative and enjoyable to read through many of the previous posts on the list. Thanks for creating such a great place!

I am having a problem with my ATI driver. The first few times that I booted my tablet, the red ATI icon would appear in the system tray and the monitor would display full screen, however I could not get it to rotate. Then, after a few uses an error started to appear on startup "communication with the display driver failed" and the red ATI icon would not start up in the system tray. Also, the monitor would not display full screen and has a thick black border around what is displayed.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers from the fujitsu site but that did not change anything. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks in advance,
    mentallo

Can you get to the display driver settings via the display properties (right click on the desktop then click properties or by selecting display properties from the control panel)? It may just be that the taskbar component isn't loading properly. If you can get to the settings via display properties, you should be able to set the display to full screen. As far as rotating the display...I believe there were messages here in the Fujitsu area discussing that and problems related to that. Try the search command on the right side of the forum window.

    Hi Dozer,

Thanks for the quick reply. First I'd like to clarify that I am trying all of this on Win2K not XP (where most people in the forum are having issues).

My screen mode is running at 800x600 (the maximum resolution) and if I try to change any of the properties under settings I get an error:
"The display control panel is unable to change the display settings. The graphics driver returned an unexpected error"

I also read all of the relevant posts with regards to portrait mode. None of them seem to yield a solution to my problem.

I feel that all of these problems are related and I am slightly worried that there might be a hardware problem with the graphics card because none of these errors arose from changes in software. They simply started occuring on about the 4th boot up.

    Thanks,
    metallo

    metallo,

I was hoping you would not get those error messages through the Windows display properties setting window. The fact that you are seems to point to either a driver or hardware problem...and you said you've tried reinstalling the driver.

I have a Fujitsu 2300 with Win2k. I took a look at the BIOS setup and there is an item in there under the audio/video settings to "Expand VGA Screen". I don't think this setting, if it is in your BIOS set up as well, will really solve your problem...but it's worth a try.

Other then that, I don't know enough about the 3500 specifically to offer much more assistance. Hopefully a 3500 owner will chime in and offer some suggestions.

Do you know which model of 3500 you have? I've got the 3500x which has a 1024x768 display. If I set it to 800x600 I get the small window with the black border. Are you sure you don't have the same model with the XGA display?

If you want to compare settings, driver versions, etc I'll be glad to try to help.
