Default standard WIDCOMM software not some crazy, works

standard WIDCOMM software not some crazy, works when it wants, ugly icon software such as BlueSoleil? Doing some at night data collection in a few Los Angeles nightspots and do not want to risk my tc1100 or tc4200 with builtin bluetooth. Dusted off my old tc1000 (knew it would come in handy), but hate the bluetooth software that came with my $150.00 Socket and my $135.00 AnyCom Bluetooth CF cards ($%^*&*#%*&!!!!!) and since they were too cheap to lic. WIDCOMM good people like me are stuck with a dongle sticking out so we can use out GPRS or EDGE bluetooth phones to connect. I want my stuff streamlined (Can also use a PC card if that is all I can find, but would rather keep the slot open for just in cases). So let me know if anyone knows of anything..Thanks

I'm afraid you might be over my head as I'm no bluetooth expert.
What's wrong with the built in solutions?
Is it that you don't like the software or that you find the connections lacking?

At first glance your wants seem a bit stingy as you want streamlined but are not happy with using the built ins you have or using the obvious slot available...

I was wondering myself if the communications daughter card slot the tc4200 uses is proprietary or some usually OEM only standardized thing which more upscale hardware might purchased for.
I didn't get the built in bluetooth with mine... and would really not mind too much just losing the modem if it came to that.

As I said... it is probably just beyond me... but... hey... you got a bump and maybe somebody who knows more about it will wander along.
    Life ain't all bad...

I must admit I dont understand most of this post but if you are looking for a streamlined bluetooth CF card, Socket sells one. It does not protrude from the slot.

I have the socket and anycom CF cards already...was just looking for one that uses the WIDCOMM Bluetooth manager...However, the Tech Gods over at socket just emailed me the bandspanking new BlueSoliel software. Though I would love to have the WIDCOMM, the new version seems to be better than the old and am using it now...But if anyone finds a WIDCOMM card let me know...

belkin has a rebadged cf bt card that can be used with widcomm driver on both pocketpc and pc. it comes with the cf-pcmica adapter and only sticks about half an inch out from the side of the machine.[:I]

you can find it online at a couple places for around 40 bucks, geeks.com even sold it from only 20 bucks during one of their promotion last month. Good luck and happy hunting
