Hi, all-- for anyone fuming on how to get rid of this bundled software, I thought I'd post my "how I did it." It was a real pain because anytime I'd start inking in Outlook, the PlanPlus installer would fire up. I tried searching thru the registry, no luck. Finally:
1) Start the installer: Start/All Programs/../PlanPlus (or in my case, start inking in Outlook :-P)
2) Allow the install to complete.
3) RUN THE PROGRAM at least once. Look at the nice Franklin notepad, and quote of the day. Decide not to spend $100 on it. Exit program.
4) Start/Settings/Add-Remove Programs. Find entry for FranklinCovey PlanPlus.
5) Select CHANGE. Not "uninstall."
6) A FranklinCovey Installer window should pop up, with a radio button on it. One choice should be (finally, woo!) "uninstall." Click.
7) You should be prompted to reboot. Do it.
8) Enjoy PlanPlus-free laptop.
Now, if I can figure out how to reclaim some HD space and processing power by figuring out which IBM tools I can do without....

you need to download the 'Windows Install Cleanup tool' from microsoft website. it's the only thing that worked for me regarding Franklin Covey Plan Plus... and it was THEIR technical support that told me to download it. Then you can manually delete the files.
I followed the instructions from sushi-d but still ran into the error that usccharles
posted above. Next, I ran re-ran the setup from C:\IBMTOOLS\APPS\PLANPLUS. Now, starting with step 4 of sushi-d's instructions, I got a successful uninstall.

Hmm... now *did* I start the installer from the Start menu, or from the C:\IBMTOOLS\APPS\PLANPLUS directory...?
I was so happy it worked, I didn't recall the details. Go with Ed's suggestion. :)
sushi-d,
how do you ink in outlook? can you directly write ink in outlook's calendar? I cannot do that!
It seems that PlanPlus can be removed after at least one successful opening.
1. Run setup from c:\ibmtools\plaplus
2. Run PlanPlus once
3. Remove PlanPLus from Add/Remove Programs.
Works!
Thanks everyone
For those still having issues, download the free trial from FranklinCovery, install it over the preinstalled version, and then try again from the Add/Remove Software application in Control Panel.
Yeah, that would be my Step 3. :)quote:Originally posted by kogasira

Checkmate has a good call, too. The whole point of running before uninstall, or installing the trial version, is cuz the uninstaller is expecting the system (registry & files) to be in a particular state. A good uninstaller will handle multiple conditions; in Franklin's case we have to force it down the "happy path."
Inking in outlook: I'm brand new to it. I ink emails just fine, I haven't tried inking calendar items yet. (I have Office 2003 Pro)
You can ink emails if you have Office 2003 (or XP with the Tablet download). In order to ink appointments, contacts, tasks, etc. you need to purchase TEO (www.tabletoutlook.com)
