Default Hello, I am new to forum so sorry if this was mi

Hello, I am new to forum so sorry if this was missed somewhere else. My 2 yr old v1250 no longer works with stylus in tablet mode. I tried a non-destructive reload of XP, which crashed my system, so I reloaded the OEM XP from scratch, erasing all old data from my disk. Still nothing. Can a stylus go "bad"? I am thinking of calling to buy a replacement but hate to spend $50 if thats not the problem. The computer is used heavily almost daily since puchased 2 yrs ago but has never been abused, dropped, etc. Any ideas or advise is much appreciated, thank you!!

It is possible for a stylus to break, although it doesn't happen often. Unfortunately I cant think of a way you can tell whether it is the stylus or not.
When or how did it stop working?
I don't suppose you know anyone else with a tablet you can borrow a pen off? It doesn't have to be a viewsonic one.

    Hi Woody,
The tablet at first seemed to work intermittently, as the stylus would just quit on me in the middle of something. That is why Viewsonic thought it may be software related, so I did a complete new install of XP with the OEM disks. It was doing the same thing for a day or so, then just quit all together. All started about a month ago..
I do have a stylus from a Wacom Intuos tablet that I tried on the screen that does not work on tablet, although I don't know if it would have worked when the tablet was functioning proplerly. I can't think of anyone else I know who owns a tablet!
Thanks again for any help out there!

From those symptoms it would appear that the pen is dying, as the symptoms persisted after a reinstall of the OS. The intuos pen is not compatible with a tabletPC, so that wouldn't work anyway (the cintiq pens are as are any 'pen enabled' - most tablets - pen).
If you could say what area you are in, maybe there is someone who lives near you can let you try there pen to see if it is that, although I think that buying a new pen is your most likely option

My tablet mode has also stopped working. I tested the pen on another machine and it is fine. I definitely have a software problem since the on screen keyboard does not appear on the log in screen and there is no response on the inkdesktop either. GRRRRRRRR![cry]
