Yes, you will have to take the 512 stick out and replace it with a 1Gig stick of RAM. Sorry man...

I have 1G memory, how should I upgrade it to 1.5G? It seems I have 2 512M RAM, and there's no room for a extra. Or, should I have to buy a 1G RAM to replace one of the 512M? ---that'll be too bad then.

Correct me if I am wrong, but depending on your config, the X41 only has one slot, and 512MG soldered on the system board. So this being the case a single chip will do you. And you can get them fairly cheap over at newegg.com, but like Gromet said, you wont be able to use the 512 chip you remove also.
You are correct.

Are you sure you need the extra 512? You could be wasting your cash.
