Did you try starting windows in "Safe Mode" and run the AV or SW in safe mode? You didn't mention it, just thought i would ask???
Pretty depressed tonight. My M200 died three days ago, and I have tried everything to revive it to no avail. Toshiba tech support was terribly unhelpful. Here's what happened.
I shut down Tuesday night, during shut down, I had a Mcafee warning that there was a PUP. I tried to delete it, but it would not delete, I was tired and just shut down the computer, thinking I would deal with it in the morning. Well, the next morning I turned it on and got a message that the Power Saver Utility had some sort of error, the computer started up unusually slow, and the hourglass on starting was blinking rapidly. I was unable to open anything and the computer was very erratic. I shut down and tried twice more, only to get the same. I called Toshiba support. They said some adware or spyware must have infected my computer. We couldn't get anything to open much less run Mcafee so they told me to get an external cd-rom so I could load the restore cds. I did, but the tech support person neglected to tell me that there are only 2 compatable external cd drives. So after returning the one I purchased, I found out which one I needed to purchase and had it shipped overnight. Once back on the phone with Tech support, we could not load the restore discs. They say something is wrong with the new cd-rom. I have to take it to a authorized service center. What BS!!! Why can't they figure it out? Does anyone have a clue about this?? Sorry to be venting!
Thanks,

Yes, we tried safe mode too, it was actually worse. no programs or menus or error messages showed up at all. Thanks for the suggestion though!
This is TOTALLY just a suggestion, but I did this once to a "regular" computer and turned out fine... That being said, not sure exactly how the recovery works with Toshiba, but it might work.
i had the same kind of problem and what I did was to put in a XP Pro CD and let it boot from CD. Let it install so you have a clean system. Then, put the recovery CD in and let it resore the image from the tablet.
That being said. If the problem is with the recovery CD/DVD itself, this will not solve anything.
Thanks I will give it a shot...I am ready to try anything at this point!
