Hi, I've been having some strange problems with my brand new 1600 after coming out of Suspend mode. Suspend works well, but after restarting Windows sometimes I have problems with TIP. The TIP box will not open. A little icon appears, but it looks disabled. The only way to correct it is to do a full reboot. Other times after coming out of Suspend I have trouble accessing the internet. Anyone else have similar problems? I really haven't installed many applications-just NOD32 AV and the Experience Pack.


Also how does one hibernate if you can't hold down a shift key (no kb) to make the option appear when shutting down?

Not sure about the first problem, but the second one is easy.

To hibernate, you can open the Dashboard and in the Power section, set the Power Button to hibernate. Then you just hold the power switch for a second and your tablet will hibernate. If you like to standby, you can choose that with the pen from the Dashboard.

You may be experiencing a memory leak issue with the tcserver.exe service that many other tablet users have encountered. While I can't be certain it'll work given your situation, it's worth installing the fix from Microsoft if you haven't already done so.

Some useful scripts can be found on www.pctablettalk.com for hibernation and suspend; I found that I had to modify them to make them more reliable for the LE1600 - increasing the sleep time to 150 msec. The script Hibernate.vbs looks like this:

Great tip about the Scripts. They work well, and are simple. I'll continue to investigate the Suspend problem and will report any progress. I had already installed the fix for the memory leak, so I can rule that one out.

Anyone know how to get rid of that "Using Your Motion Tablet" icon on the start menu? The scripts won't work without getting rid of it and I don't see any option to delete it.

Ok, I'm going to try using my new LE 1600 to do something useful. It may take a while to write this response, go bear with me!

To get rid of the "Using your Motion tablet" icon, right-click the start menu and click "properties".
Click on the "Start Menu" tab then press "customize".
Click on the "Advanced" tab.
In the "Start menu items" list, uncheck 'Manufacturer link".

Whew, I could have typed that in a lot less time, but not while lounging on my sofa. Hopefully I'll get the hang of this someday.

BTW: The "normal" way to get a WinXP box to hibernate is to go thru the motions of shuting down. When the box comes up with the three choices (suspend, reboot, shutdown), you hold down the shift key. The shift key changes the "suspend" choice to "hibernate". Click on that button.

Ian, thanks for responding. Unfortunately, I don't have a 'Manufacturer link' entry. This is after an OS reload so I'm not quite sure why it does have the entry when I first got the machine but it doesn't appear after reloading the OS and Drivers & Utilities from the two Motino cds. Oh well.
