Default I haven't seen *any* vendor talking about ReadyB

I haven't seen *any* vendor talking about ReadyBoost certified SD Cards for Vista.

Does anyone have any experience with Vista on a LE1600 and using an SD card for "ReadyBoost"?

If so, please tell us which brand, model, size, etc that works

    Graye,
If you willing to use a USB key, you can look at:
    http://www.grantgibson.co.uk/misc/readyboost/

"If you're looking for a ReadyBoost compatible device, browse the database of tested devices opposite."

This does not guarantee that a device will work for you because it does not require that people document the device in which a particular memory device worked.

In other words, I could report that specific device works for me, but you don't know for sure if it I was using an LE1600.

Anyway - there are some interesting links on that site about Readyboost.

My SD slot works under Vista, I have a SANDisk Ultra II 512MB loaded, ready boost seems to like it ok.

Microsoft has just released a Vista hotfix for some SD card problems. See:

The Sandisk Ultra II has particularly high write sustainted speeds (the true spec that matters) and has dropped way lowered prices.

The common advice is at least 1GB and 2GB even better minimum sizes for ReadyBoost. The Ultra II PLUS model is both SD and USB2 by folding in half (truly tiny thumb drive) and works great in USB slot for ReadyBoost and sticks out very slim stub.

Quite likely 1600 era design hadn't yet abandoned slow internal card readers with possibly USB port significantly faster in all-important throughput. 2GB Ultra II PLUS easily found around $60 or less online and incredibly versatile in use.

I have at least a dozen large, fast SD cards (by 18 months ago standards, six months prior SD card speed concerns just emerging) used professionally and the Ultra II PLUS my 1st choice both for impressive sustained huge file write times and direct transfer always option assurance. Looks gimmicky, in use very handy.

Just a note... the Hotfix KB933847 does NOT fix the problem with Vista on the LE1600
