Sounds like some corrupted windows dlls. Do start->run->cmd
sfc /scannow
Dashboard on my M1400 throws an error every time I try to launch it. (Dashboard MFC Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.)
I think this started happening after I installed some updated video drivers from Intel's site and then reinstalled the version posted on motion's site.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Dashboard, earlier versions of Dashboard, and even the M1400 BIOS update to AO5.
Any advice?
Thanks,
Ed Lee

Thanks grv575. I did as you suggested and was prompted for Windows XP Professional SP2 CD. I installed SP2 as a download, so I don't have a CD. Any ideas on how to handle this? Should I just downlad SP2 again and burn it onto a CD?
Thanks,
Ed Lee
Hum. In my case the rescue cd that came with the unit had sp2 slipstreamed so that one worked.
