Hello Claudio,
The sudden drop is often indicative of a faulty 'cell'.
How old is the battery? (are you within the battery warranty period?)
What model Motion machine?
Hi,
I have a Motion battery that only holds 2/3 of the total capacity. It fully charges up to 100%, no problem here.
But when I still have 33% of capacity or approximately 1 hour left it suddenly drops down to 13 minutes and the battery warning jumps right in.
I mean I could set the battery warning up to 1 hour, on the other hand what's a battery good for when it only holds 2/3 of the supposed to have capacity?
CHC 1.9 beta 2 shows 0% wear and a total of 39960mW of capacity for this battery. I have a 2nd batterythat shows 12% of wear and runs towards empty quite normal.
Do other M1200, M1300 or M1400 owners have the same "problems"? Any one has an explanation for this behavior or an idea to deal with it?
Have a great day
Claudio

Definitely sounds like a bad cell.
I just had this same thing happen to my battery--see
http://www.tabletpcbuzz.com/forum/to...TOPIC_ID=25108.
I plan on getting in touch with my VAR to see what can be done, seeing that my M1400 is less than a year old.
Hi
The motion I am using is a Gateway M1300 and I don't have any warranty on that machine.
Since others have the same problem, I wonder how this can happen. Bad cells are not just cosmetic blemishes, this really hurts productivity.
I supposed to believe a battery "dies" slowly with age, this sudden half death defective cell syndrome is not what I would expect from such an expensive and important part.
Have a great day and thanks for the help,
Claudio
Hi everyone
I bought a new M1400 last October and my battery went from zero wear to 9 % and is now down to 13 %wear. It's not able to fully charge up to the designed capacity which is 39960 mWh. I only get 35143 mWh of change (Checked with both BatteryMon and Notebook Hardware Control).
This is inacceptable because it's a loss of more than 10 % of battery run time. I have a 2nd battery that is down to more than 20% wear and this one is only one year old. Are these batteries used by Motion any good? I have severe doubts.
I expect this battery behavior after one or two years but not after only 5 months! Will such a defect be covered by warranty?
Best regards,
Bartman
I'm about to get a third battery in a year and a half for any 1400. I use them heavily but this does seem a little weak...
How do you determine the percentage of "wear" on a battery. Do you get this via the Dashboard? My 1400 is seldom on battery power, but I swap my two batteries every 60 days or so anyway.
Don't know about warranty. The problem is battery life begins to deteriorate from the date of manufacture, not sale. It may be a new battery to you, but still an old battery. With Motion no longer making M-series batteries, I suspect what's being sold now are just old stock. This problem will worsen for everyone in the coming year.quote:

Hi,
you can't see the battery wear in the Dashboard. But programs like Notebook Hardware Control (http://www.pbus-167.com/chc.htm) can show the battery wear level.
I would like to keep my M1400 for the next year or so at least, so I would appreciate if there is an after market for these batteries.
Is there a way to refurbish these batteries or to replace the cells?
Best regards,
Bartman
