I imagine things like performance and form factor have something to do with it. Wait until someone has both units to do a hands-on comparison before dismissing either.
are these really the dimensions of the IBM???
Height 0.81 in
Depth 8.3 in
Width 10.5 in
Travel weight 3.6 lbs
If so... that means it is SMALLER in all respects vs. the Motion SLATE... except it's just SLIGHTLY thicker.
See Motion specs below:
• 11.65" x 9.45" x 0.74 - 0.87"
If this is true... then WHY get the Motion??? it's not even really smaller??

You have the specs of the X41 notebook. The X41 tablet is larger. Here are the specs for the X41T:
274 mm x 242 mm x 29-32 mm (4-cell)
274 mm x 266 mm x 29-32 mm (8-cell)
4 Cell
Height: 1.14 - 1.26 in
Depth: 9.53 in
Width: 10.79 in
Weight: 3.5 (does not include power adapter)
Height: 1.14 - 1.26 in
Depth: 10.47 in
Width: 10.79 in
Weight: 4.0 (does not include power adapter)
no, i pulled my specs direclty off the IBM tablet page... here's a link:
http://www-131.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/st...catalogId=-840
where did you find your information?

I dont think the IBM has a View Anywhere screen does it?
Yes, it does depending on the model you choose. I could be wrong but I think they have OVER 8 models. Anybody better informed?
Cheers,
Regardless of the model of X41T the cases are all the same dimension. The only thing that changes is the depth which varies due to the rear battery. Think about it how can Lenovo add a digitizer, pen, central hinge mechanism (with chasis reinforcement), shortcut buttons, etc. to a regular X41 and not add weight and thickness? The answer is that they can't.
Do you have to carry around a power adaptor for both the IBM and the Motion? If so, is there a big difference?
If you only have to carry around a power adaptor for the IBM (vs a built-in cord for the Motion), that would make a big difference in their portability.
I don't have either one yet, which is why I'm asking.
Both require a power adapter. I haven't seen the Motion's adapter so I can't comment on size in comparison to the Lenovo's. The Lenovo's is quite small and probably weighs 8-10 ounces (about half a pound).
