Go third-party. Compact software number pad solutions include an optional layout for Click-N-Type, as well as Fitaly and probably MessagEase and I'm sure I was thinking of something else. Oh, I got it - OrangeGuava's spe******ed write-on keys and forms (www.orangeguava.com). And Windows PowerPro, which can park a keypad in a toolbar (subject to testing), and QuicKeys can do that too (but doesn't keep up with high-speed "typing" on my elderly first-generation slate), and I have a prototype of a script for AutoHotkey to punt a toolbox (specifically Fitaly) next to the field holding the text cursor (actually next to the cursor) whenever the pen cursor is an I-beam: a refinement would be to auto-hide the toolbox. If I can help...?
