Good question!
I would like to know the same thing.
Is there a conclusive list of Bootable USB 2.0 devices that support booting with the BIOS.
Also, anyone have any info about setting up PXE?
Good question!

PXE is used with RIS (Remote Installation Service(s)). There is a microsoft article about deploying Tablet PCs, including RIS at the following link.

There has been some diversity of opinion on this site. One has said that any USB cd device should work out of the box if you just give the bios enough time to work on it. I tried this with my Teac CD210PU (USB1) and failed. There is a long thread (USB CD-ROM now bootable FINALLY!) full of grizzly details of a recipe to burn your own bootable CD for your old CDROM drive that may work, but looks a bit involved. The thread called "Bootable external CD drive for TC1000" contains personal experiences from several users. The upshot is:
coolest bootable is SONY MPDAP20U, and it does everything but sex
all USB2 drives "should" work, but Iomega 40x12x48 (USB2) doesn't
Storix DVD/CD-RW boots, is USB powered and costs less than SONY
Liteon Letswrite! 40x24x40 "works great" but is not USB powered
Q-Ity Drive (cheap at Frys) is bootable
TDK Velo CD 241032UP 24x10x32 (~$120) is bootable
I have the Sony unit. I did have to follow the directions in one of the threads to create a separate recovery disk, but it was a brezze as long as you know how to burn a CD!
It worked great!
