Downloading now. Im prettey excited if the author fixed all the bugs i encountered and mailes to him. But i guess these bugs were commonly known as they were rather huge.
A new version of PDF Annotator (version 1.1.0.30 as of 6/13) is now available at http://www.ograhl.com/en/pdfannotator/.
Although it still has some problems, this version is heads-and-shoulders above the previous release. Much clearer rendering (along with a few options to improve the built-in engine). It is much faster when changing pages (but could still use a little improvement). I tried a 100+ page pdf file and had no problems.
The display no longer flashes when highlighting or inking...really nice!
There's still the problem with highlighting covering up text when printing...though I think some have said that this is a general pdf problem. (this doesn't happen when printing annotated pdf's from within GoBinder...but I'd bet GoBinder does some sort of conversion so it really isn't a pdf file anymore?)
After a long delay, the author did a good job with this update. I hope the next one doesn't take as long! ;)

Is it just me or is this version worse? The previous ones had issues but this one won't even render my scanned textbooks at all! The images are all blank! I tried installing Ghostscript as the renderer and it took about a minute to render a page somehow ... Anyone have better luck with scanned books?
Well, it's good to see that development is ongoing. That being said, this version still has pretty big problems. I upgraded from the previous (retail) version, and I seem to be missing the 'extra' menu as mentioned in the help file. I guess I'll need to do a full uninstall then reinstall / registration.
I also managed to crash Annotator - it seems to have some sort of memory leak, it took 1GB before I killed the process. I'd like to try the ghostscript option, but I'll have to fix the menu problem first...
My scanned books were saved as OCRed pdf files and show up fine.quote:Originally posted by Malorkus

I have not had a crash yet, and the Extras menu shows up fine for me. I did do a clean install, so maybe that makes a difference.quote:Originally posted by Carl

Wow, talk about making up for lost time. Two new versions have been released since the 1.1.0.30 release. Excellent.
Yikes! I guess I've got to use the program a little more...didn't even see those latest updates! Thanks!
I figured out what wasn't working for me before- PDF's with images that were OCR'd are displaying as blank in PDF Annotator (including the 1.1.0.30 release). It displays, but at a much lower resolution, using the Ghostscript renderer (they should be 300dpi but look like 75 dpi or something). They were created with Acrobat 7. Dozer, are your OCR'd PDFs made differently? Anyone else have this problem and/or a suggestion for solving it?
On a related note it'd be very useful to be able to search the OCR text in PDF Annotator...
That said, I'm very glad to see this program coming along. The LaTeX support is nice in particular.I'm close to buying it if I can at least get these issues fixed...
One of the issues with the older version was the ever increasing file size. Does it still exhibit this behavior?
