Buzz Bruggerman has released the beta version of ActiveWords InkPad 1.5 for the Tablet PC. Download it and provide feedback.
ActiveWords InkPad works much like ActiveWords ActionPad, providing a context for entering and triggering ActiveWords. Windows XP Tablet PC Edition does not contain (published) tools necessary for ActiveWords to globally observe and act on text entered or selected with the stylus. As such, use of ActiveWords in the "pen" mode on a Tablet PC requires entry within ActiveWords InkPad. ActiveWords InkPad is not required when using a physical keyboard and pointing device connected or built into a Tablet PC.
ActiveWords InkPad Version 1.5 now triggers ActiveWords that generate text substitutions. A text substitution will be sent to the text entry location active (blinking cursor) immediately before the InkPad is displayed.

I'm with Trevor...ActiveWords w/ Inkpad rocks! The must-have combo for Tablet PC users.
OK - its not working for me - but its only my first day, so I'm sure its my fault.
activewords using a keyboard works great and I can see how useful this is going to be.
But the inkpad isn't reading my writing.
I'll set up an activeword "rss" to open my NewsAggregator, but when I write "rss" in the inkpad, it interprets it as "add" and opens the add activeword box.
I tried switching it to "news", but the inkpad is interpreting it as "view"!
What am I doing wrong here?
Try unloading and reloading ActiveWords (both parts) after adding new words. I have noticed with the 1.5 beta that new additions do not get added until the program reloads. This may be a beta bug.

The new build solves the problem of the Inkpad appearing behind open windows. I'm a very happy ActiveWords user now. This combo is the elusive "killer app" for the tablet!
