    Hi,

is there a way to import scanned pages and automatically lie each page over a different OneNote page? If not, is there a Tablet note taking program that would let me do this?

    Think you in advance

Yes, first scan to pdf and then use the OneNoteImageWriter from http://www.analogreality.com/onenote...mageWriter.htm, which acts just like a printer, except the pages show up in a special folder in OneNote. Under Printer Setup -> Properties -> Advanced, you can choose whether you want all the printed pages on one OneNote page, or on separate pages or on separate subpages.

This free tool is also nice for importing office documents if you haven't upgraded to Office 2003.

    Gionames,

Our program, OneNote EMRToolkit, does exactly that...you take your scanned encounter /flow sheets / templates etc. and we import them into OneNote where you can annotate and save as a OneNote page. We then use the OneNote hiearchy file system to organize the information, folders/sections/pages etc.

You can see how the process works by visting the website in my sig and navigating to OneNote EMRToolkit. We use the ImporterAPI for OneNote.

Of course, you could also just use the "Insert/Picture>From scanner or camera" menu command in OneNote itself...

Thank you guys for the great tips. Actually what I was after is a way of importing a pdf which has been OCRed with Aabby FineReader.

In general, I need to import huge texts (hundreds pages) from OCRed pdfs. The goal is to keep the OCR layer in some way, so that the imported document is searchable like if I had typed it myself in OneNote. When you got a lot of text, you really appreciate the Search button.

I've read somewhere that Franklyn Covey PlanPlus can do it right off the box, but I wasn't able to double-check this. Moreover I've been using OneNote for quite a while now, so if there's a way to achieve the result in OneNote it would be great.

    Any idea?

    Thank you

Sounds like you have a similar issue to the guys in this post.

See what Miki did and if that will help you keeping the text searchable and the file size manageable.

thank you for the links. It seems guys in there are using pdf as final destination format, while I'm looking to get the text of OCRed pdfs into OneNote to exploit the OneNotes's flags and hierarchical filing system (not to speak about the handwritten notes, that Acrobat 7.0 can't convert to searchable text). At this point I could resort to copy OCRed text and then paste it into a text box in OneNote. Don't know how effective this could be, though.
Can anyone hint about PlanPlus? Is it really able to search through imported docs (pdf or Word files)? Is there any note taking program that can do this?

    Thank you
    Matt

    Gionames,

I don't believe that is possible in OneNote.
