I'm new to the site and noticed that there is a poll asking whether people use Remote Desktop on their tablets to connect to other computers, and are therefore unable to use the input panel. Well, I would just like to point out that it is possible to use an input panel when using Remote Desktop. I do not have a tablet currently, but I have used Remote Desktop from a friend's Toshiba tablet to my computer.

When I installed Microsoft Office on my computer, I chose the option to install handwriting and speech recognition. When I use Remote Desktop, I am easily able to bring up an input panel to write with. The panel isn't as spiffy as the one on a tablet, but it has pretty much the same functionality. Microsoft made both panels, after all.

Here is a good page on how to enable this on your computer:

A lot of us use RD to control a remote server, where I would be disinclined to install this, rdude. I simply load the TIP docked and use it for all the server input I need, as I'm sure most of us do. It is a pain, though, and not nearly as clean an experience as we would like.
