Ok, I'm the proud owner of a C11X (112 I think but I can't remember off hand - sure it's in my siggy)
I've been trying to beam to and from the infra red port and had zero success. Windows doesn't even detect the "nearby computer"
Now in the past on an acer laptop I had this problem and just had to enable it in the bios but the c112 doesn't have it as an option. Has anyone else experienced this problem, and can anyone tell me how to get my IR enabled? :|
Check in the device manager to see if the infrared device is enabled. If there is an x beside it, highlight it, right mouse click and check enable this device.
I usually have infrared disabled unless using it to prevent a drain on the battery.
Hope this is your answer but you may have already checked for this fix.

Hah! Found it hidden under serial ports in the bios. Pure fluke. thanks for the help anyway bebe

Now that you have it enabled in the bios you should be able to enable/disable through the device manager and it is listed as Infrared Devices, IrDA Fast Infrared Port. Sorry I didn't state everything clearly enough with my previous post.
