    Default I bought a stylistic 2300 at a yard sale for $10

I bought a stylistic 2300 at a yard sale for $10. When I attempt to power it up, I get nothing. I'm guessing that the machine is hosed, but I know that when I got it, it did power up briefly on the battery before stopping. So, is there any way that I can verify this? What are the odds of getting something like this repaired? The power supply I have for it is a Dell adapter, rated at 16.2 volts. Thanks.

You can get a genuine Fujitsu or an appropriate replacement from http://www.jksalesinc.com/catalog as well as some other parts / accessories.

The PS from my 2300 says:

    INPUT 100-240V 50-60Hz
    100-115VA
    OUTPUT 16V--2.7A

So it may be that the one you have is okay. (my Point 510 PS says the same thing and I've used them interchangeably)

I had similar problems a while back w/ my 2300 --- this thread from comp.sys.pen may help:

The specific bit you want is:

Although I thought I'd tried this previously, some combination of putting the
machine in standby, disconnecting the power and pulling the battery and then
trying to start it up (this to discharge the bridge battery was my thought) and
then holding down the reset button while powering it on after connecting it to
AC power worked. I'm now going to leave the machine in its port replicator w/
the power connected for 11 hours to ensure the bridge battery gets properly
    recharged.

    HTH!

I tried the method outlined, to no avail. It seems to be dead.

I should clarify that when I bought it, I did not get a power supply. It turned on briefly when I pressed the on button. When I got home I constructed a simple C-cell power supply as outlined in the Hardware Hacking Projects for Geeks book from O'Reilly. Its output was 18 volts, but according to the book, most devices can handle 3 volts over their max anyway.

Using this worked long enough for me to turn the unit on, but the next time I tried there was no response. Maybe this blew it out, I don't know. Either way, I'm SOL.

Thanks for the help. If anyone wants to buy this for parts... (or has a spare mb available)...
