I have a quick issue regarding Windows Journal that perhaps you can help with. We have a user at our school (Gateway M275; XP for TPC 2005) who finds that when she's using Windows Journal, the ink doesn't appear until she removes the pen from the screen, then it appears all at once.

Is this a setting we need to tweak? Or is it a bigger issue? Should I get on Gateway support to figure this out?

    Thanks!

Does the delay occur all of the time or only after prolonged use? Are there many other programs running?

This may not be the answer to the problem you noted but this is what I've experienced. After many hours of inking away, a pronounced lag between writing and the appearance of what I had written began to manifest itself. This wasn't limited to Journal. I found that the problem went away if I rebooted. This seemed to me to be a memory issue. Reportedly the TIP does have a memory leak. Ultimately I threw memory at the problem (went from 512kb to 1280kb) and it seems to have done the trick. Adding memory really doesn't fix the problem, just prolongs the time it takes before the issue manifests itself. The following link is a thread that discusses similar problems with writing and the TIP.

It's most likely a problem with memory allocation, and the page allocation file for the windows hard disk allocation of memory. This is probably where you need to look.
    Defrag the HD
    Add Memory
    Increase the Windows "Fake memory"
The gateway M275 doesnt come with alot of memory, and I'm fairly sure that inking doesnt take up just a lil bit of memory, i'm sure it's fairly memory hoggish.
Maybe look to some extra memory, or at ioIsland for their memory defrag program. (frees up some unused memory)
    Let us know what works.
