About a week or so ago, being the dummy I am, tripped on the power chord going into my M200 which in turn sent the delicate machine careening towars my hardwood floor at about a 3 foot drop. Once my girl scream subsided, I cautiously opened it fearing the worst. Seeing the screen was unharmed, I sighed my relief and sat it at a much safer place.

A few days ago I noticed that when I'd use the rotation button to "right" the screen in the position I was holding it, it would flicker, appear briefly in a couple positions and settle on the "righted" postition. However, the instant I let go of the rotation button, the screen flickers back to it's preset position. The only way to rotate the screen to the desired position is to do it in the rotation configuration setup. Also note, that going from tablet mode to laptop mode works fine changing between the preset screen positions for both modes. It's just altering the position using the button that seems goofed.

So did I break the rotation thingy inside that would allow the screen to "right" itself?

    Aaron,

I'm not using my Toshiba right now, so I can't direct you through the menus, but you can try recalibrating the accelerometer.

    Try
    Start
    All Programs
    Toshiba

    - one of the options there takes you to the accelerometer utilities, and one of these lets you recalibrate.

    Hope that's all it is.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to have solved the problem in the least bit. I have the accidental coverage, and since the screen didn't break I should still be entitled to a replacement if I do happen to break it within the year.

Nothing like dropping a $2600 piece of equipment that's not even entirely paid off yet :P

My M200 did that too before I put in the latest drivers from Toshiba. It turns out that if I held down the button just a smidgen longer than is necessary for the screen to change, it'll change back when I let go. I ended up just getting into the habit of not holding the button down for too long. So try updating your drivers if they're not already.
