Default Hi there, I am new to the world of tablet com

    Hi there,

I am new to the world of tablet computing - I am borrowing a T1000 for a few months and so far am very impressed... but...

Using the pen with the touchscreen is such a difficulty due to the fact that the cursor still moves when the pen is 1cm or so away from the screen - this means that when clicking on buttons, a single click results in about 5 clicks, and when using the Journal, dots appear all over the place.

This is a huge irritation and I cannot seem to find an option to change the sensitivity. Is it there - can someone enlighten me?

    Thanks!

It almost sounds like you have the ink bleeding problem... I'm certainly no expert on it, but I know what a pain it can be. One thing I can give you as a piece of advice, is to ignore exactly where the pen touches the screen; focus on the position of the pointer. That will lead to more accurate use.

I'm also not exactly familiar with what you mean by "clicking on buttons." Maybe a little more elaboration about your problem will help.

Sorry for not being so clear

The problem is that the PC picks up the pen even when it is not physically touching the screen. So, you might just be hovering over something but the PC will recognise it as a cursor action, or a double click, or whatever. For example, in an installation program where the NEXT button is always in the same place, you might only actually click it once, but the program registers multiple clicks (and therefore clicks next through the next few screens automatically) since the PC is registering clicks as you move the pen away from the screen, even if you do it quickly.

I hope that makes a little more sense.

    gkhewitt,

This does sound like the "pen bleed" issue. That is, the Tablet is registering a pen "click" even when you are not touching the screen.

    Two things to try.
    1. Remove the pen nib (white) and put it back in.
    2. Replace the AAAA battery in the pen.

It was a _very_ common problem in the early days of the TC1000. The only solution that worked for me was replacing the pen. Now after a couple years that one is "bleeding" sometimes.

I had the same problem with "pen-bleed". Removing and replacing the tip does help. Also I've learned that I don't have to press as hard as I was. That has made a huge difference in keeping the pen-bleed from coming back.

One slight correction (with all due respect WN) the pen nib on the TC1000 is black. You may also want to check the small AAAA (thats 4 A's) battery in the pen. If that fails to correct the problem, then the pen is probalbly suffering from the condition that we so affectionatly call "ink Bleed". With ink bleed, you can hoover the pen above the screen and the pointer will still write without the tip actually making contact witht eh screen. The pen will also "click" several times unintentionally. If your tablet is still under warranty, HP will replace the pen free of charge (they did so for me twice). If it is not under warranty, a new pen costs arounf $50.00. Bear in mind though that only one type of pen works withthe TC1000.
