Please let me know what I am doing wrong. I , on occasion send copies of e-mail that I send to customers, to myself, and open them on a non tablet computer just to check how my customers may see them.I use ink to handwrite these messages. I find that frequently, my note, sent with outlook 2003, and opened with outlook express, contains just my header and footer, which are typed, and says "handwritten note" in the place where my inking is. If I open the note using my comcast mailreader it is fine.

Any clues to my problem? I appreciate the help!

    Hi aldenrz,

You are not likely doing anything wrong on the sending end.
The question is the format that is used for reading incoming mail. Are you set for "plain text" or "HTML"? HTML format is needed to see pictures. On receipt, your sent text is viewed as a picture.

I hope this solves the mystery for you...

    Dear Jim,
Thanks for the reply. I am using windows 98 on the computer that has outlook express with the ink viewing problem. I went to tool/options, and there is no check in the box next to "read all messages in plain text." So I guess this is correct. I went to options/international settings, and there is no check next to "use default encoding for all incoming messages", does this mattter.
    Still stumped. Thanks!
There is no red box with an x next to it where i would expect to see the ink. Checked in MS knowledge base and can find no reference for W98 and this problem, it does talk about a problem sin=milar to thai with xp and sp2, but no sp2 on this machine and suggestions for repair do not match up.

    Hi aldenrz,

Maybe this Microsoft Article will help...

I've just had issues with Outlook even sending the ink at all. Very frustrating when you write a long "letter", send it, and find out the ink is gone forever.

    Dear Jim,
Thanks agian for the reply. Checked the link, went to my outlook folder and found no get info or memory option. I did go to prperties/advanced/sending/and saw an option to break apart messages longer than.... and set this to 4000 kb. Is this what is meant? I am running version 6, not the 4.5 mentioned in the article.
Thanks for sticking with me here!

    Well...

I just did an ink test send to myself using Microsoft Outlook, opened with Outlook Express 6.0. The ink is readable. The difference is O/S and perhaps the Outlook version [Office 2003]. I'm happy to test send to you if desired. If so use my e-mail link on my profile. I do not have other options, short of reinstalling. I am unable to test with Windows 98 today. Do you have a different result with a different O/S?

    Hi,
If I send to myself and recieve the message with my tablet, outlook 2003, I get the message fine, and all content is there. I have sent inked messages to others, I do not know their os, and they have opened well. It is just with my 98 os and my outlook express that I have seen the issue. I will send a copy to you, please let me know if it is okay. Many thanks , again!
