Greetings all! I'm new here and my name is Rob. I'm the proud new owner of a Fujitsu Stylistic LT P-600, my first tablet, and think it's a great machine.
One of the main uses I intend for this tablet is as a book reader. So far all the bookreader programs work well (Even Microsft Reader. Ha! go figure.), but it could be even bettr if I could change the screen to portrait view. What software or drivers are available to accomplish this? Thanks in advance.

PS: looks like a good and useful site[bday]

PPS: the OS is Windows 2000 Professional SP4

You could try software such as pivot pro to rotate your screen. I checked and they have a demo you could DL.

I don't know if the P-600 came with any rotation software of its own, but you can check the Fujitsu website under support and see if its available.

Apparently this isn't exactly what we know as "a Tablet PC" - that is, running Windows XP Tablet Edition. Not that there's anything wrong with that!

    From http://www.computers.us.fujitsu.com/...ases/pr_091001 ,

"Screen technology is one of the features that differentiates Fujitsu's pen tablet PCs from the competition. The Stylistic LT P-600 is available with either a brightness-enhanced indoor Transmissive SVGA color LCD or a viewable-everywhere Transflective SVGA color LCD. Both displays measure 8.4 inches and feature a passive liquid-filled digitizer to minimize light refraction and reduce screen glare. The passive digitizer incorporates "palm rejection" technology to better distinguish between the user's palm and pen, ensuring that data is entered accurately.

"The Stylistic is available with either Windows 98 Special Edition and Microsoft's Pen Services 2.0 or Windows 2000 Professional. All models include Communication Intelligence Corporation's (CIC®) Pen X software."

Since I don't turn on scripting in the browser for just anybody and Fujitsu's site doesn't work much without it, I can tell no more.

But http://www.paperlesscockpit.com/artp...=905&typeID=93 and http://www.paperlesscockpit.com/artp...1027&typeID=93 seem to be saying that there is a portrait mode in there - at least with their software - which you get at "using ATI icon" and/or Control Panel - Display, perhaps looking for display size 600 x 800 pixels.

Thanks guys, for the suggestions. I found two orientation programs so far and was able to give them a try. The first gave a dialog indicating the vid card needed drivers and the second, your suggestion Northern Rebel, worked fantasticly image-wise. Unfortunately the digitizer didn't follow suit and it was pure mayhem getting back to the original orientation. I looked for drivers, but the Fujitsu site was no help, as they had nothing available.
As for Paperless Cockpit Robert, I came across that site too and will revisit it to see if they have a trial verson of something I can use. I've been through the control panel and the ATI settings but as of yet I see nothing that would help. The press releases by Fujitsu indicate support for portrait mode so i will keep looking for this particular Philosopher's Stone.

WooHoo! found the driver that added the rotation tab to the ATI card properties. It came from the Windows Update driver search. It is:
    Driver Provider: ATI
    Driver Date: 1/24/2001
    Driver Version: 5.0.2195.4053
Driver Signer: Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publ

For the rotation mode to work, color setting must be "High Color (16 bit)".

EDIT: Not exactly glitch free. I'll need to find a driver that will allow 600 x 800 as well as the native 800 x 600.

Beakman the options in PivotPro allow adjustments to mouse and pen orientations. You right click on the pivotpro icon in the sys tray, try combinations of both and you may find one to work. Also did you install the new ATI drivers before you installed PivotPro? If not uninstall PivotPro, reinstall the new ATI drivers, then reinstall PivotPro. Good luck....

Thanks for the tip, N.R. . I'll give it a try and let you know. I've also sent an inquiry to the Paperless Cockpit Support as to if they would help me id the drivers they use.

    Update:
Replaced the driver from MS Update with the one on the fujitsu site (described there as "included", so I dissmissed it originally). it also works for changing the orientation. I've since discovered that if I let the ATI software do its thing without fiddling with color depth or resolutions, it does the job perfectly. The book readers follow the portrait view and will allow me to expand them to a full screen. Since I have two laptops, I see no reason not to keep the portrait view on the tablet. I've always thought screens should be defaulted this way anyhow. Just for fun, I may try out the above mentioned program on my wall monitor to see how I like it.
    Thanks again for the help.
    Rob

P.S.: I realize this is not the place, but are there XP (true?) tablets with =/- 8" screens?

I believe the smallest true Tablets (with the Tablet Edition software offered at retail) are 8.4" - V800XPT. Then there's Sony Vaio U-50 and U-70, which take it down to 5" with Windows XP Home and XP Professional - if you could buy Tablet Edition separately (you can't) then you could install it.

"Handtops" are the next forum over from here, including several devices promised but not yet delivered.
