Bump - To ask this another way: does removing the hard drive and putting in another do anything to void the warranty (break any seals, that sort of thing)? Thanks!
Can anyone confirm whether swapping the hard drive voids the warranty? Mine is getting flaky, and I can't really give up my M200 right now. So, I'm thinking of buying another, putting it in until I can afford to give up my system, then putting the old one back in for warranty replacement.
Any insight would be appreciated.

Bump - I'm asking not for myself, but for my wife. She won't let me buy a new hard drive until she's comfortable that I won't be voiding the warranty. Help!!!
hmm. I'm unsure. as long as there is no seal across the latch you can open it I guess, dont pin me down on that though.
maybe someone else care to enlighten us
Hi wynand32,
The answer that matters must come from Toshiba. I recommend a call to them for your and your wife's peace of mind. To the best of my knowledge, changing a HDD does not void a warranty. Again, different manufacturers, may view this differently for their different models.
Thanks for the replies!
FYI, I've called Toshiba, and they've verified that changing the hard drive does not void the warranty. Whew!
Thanks for the post. You have done the right thing. [thumbsup]
For your record, you probably have the name of the individual with whom you spoke, and the date, time, etc. Now your wife can grant her permission for that replacement HHD. Wishing you two the best...
Good advice. Thanks again!
Okay, I also need to change my hard drive, but how? I have tried using my recovery CD Rom that came with my M205 but it told me I had the wrong computer even thought both my CD Rom and the computer have the same model info (M205). Now what do I do? I want all the little things that came with the Toshiba but can't get 'em.
