Default hi all, thanks for all the info in this great f

    hi all,
thanks for all the info in this great forum, i've been taking it all in these past few weeks. i'm interested in the motion 1400va and
i'm at the edge of buying. looked at different configuations, brands, etc. waited for ces to end, haven't heard of any new announcements from motion. truthfully, will i really need it in the next 2-3 months? probably not for anything urgent. i'll use it to carry around and sketch alot.
i'm ready to jump unless someone can give me a good reason to hold off.
i don't want to wait a year, but 3 months, i could do that. the question is
is there anything of significance to wait for? almost did the deed today but i didn't call in time. so maybe it was destiny that foiled the purchase and allowed me to post this question tonight.
if anyone can help, now is the time. eta to pulling trigger, probably monday morning.

I would take the plunge. You will not have any regrets.
I love my M1400VA. I use it a lot more than I ever used my ThinkPad.
Waiting for the latest and greatest is always an option but I doubt if you would notice any perceptible difference.

    Welcome aboard!!

I think it is all about features. Does the M1400VA have all the features you want? Then go for it. Since you read this forum, you are already aware of lots of folk who still use, and love, their M1200's and M1300's.

To wait for the latest and greatest unit means you will never have one --- Buy when you see one that has your Features And don't look back for at least A year

this is what i'm talkin bout. sounds like something is just on the horizon. maybe i should wait the extra couple months to see what's coming out. seems like something will definitely be released, announced early thisl year. since i am spending a good chunk of money, it would really bite to find out the next latest thing is out the week or month after i took the plunge.
i'm still hurting from my first computer purchase. a powermac 8100. top of the line, complete system cost--10,000 (approx) less than 6 months after i bought, apple drops the "nu-bus" technology in favor of pci, i was left holding the bag with no upgrade options, except old ones. then the newton.....must not think about newton......
now i just get a little gun shy when i purchase a computer. almost got enticed by the new mac laptops until i saw a co workers tablet.

anyway, back to the topic. what do you guys think about that article?

Well the only issue is that motion's product cycle leads to new product in mid-late spring. So even if there is a launch in January, a new tablet from motion is at least a couple months. In addition, buying a new tablet from any manufacturer as soon as it comes out can be problematic. There are often first run bugs that are not caught until they reach the public. So then you are talking another month or two for people to "beta-test" these machines even if it comes out tomorrow.

for those interested in the new sonoma release. looks like a more robust system with hi def audio, support for ddr2 ram, sata drives, improved voip. with all that and more i'm starting to feel the need to wait and see. release date is just 3 days away.

I have the same struggle. As GNB reported, I'm waiting for the information regarding the Sonoma release. Perhaps the next version of the Motion will be announced.

well as i said today was the day, whether i made the right decision or not as far as anything on the horizon. i read somewhere that for ulv chips upgrades weren't due in until late 2005. whether it's true or not i went with getting it today. my baby will be due on friday.
[thumbsup] [xmas] merry late christmas to me[thumbsup]
