Default Hi After 3 months of waiting, my 3505 finally

Hi After 3 months of waiting, my 3505 finally showed up. I Had orderd the extra ram (1gb) bigger HDD 60 GB and bluetooth module separately hoping that a base unit would show up before a really loaded up one. RAM was an easy insatll after I read this side for the slot under the keyboard. The HDD upgrade will have to wait because i could not get the 3505 to see a pcmcia cd rom drive. I will try this later. I had no problem installing the BT card the way the instructions say but I am getting the TOSRFEC.SYS error whis is that the USB adaptor does not get the power it needs. My feeling is that the ribbon cable that cam with it might have been installed incoreectly . there is a white and blue side and an all whit side sith printing on it... which side faces up? If anyone got this working , Please let me know. thanks

Ok.. I got it running. When you plug the ribbon cable into the BT module and to the mother board make sure the contacts are facing you or up. the Blue and white side should be down so that it is facing away from you. Hope this helps !!

Wow, thats great, you're the first person I know that has installed the Toshiba chip and ribbon cable.

1.) I have the chip (I hope it's the right one) but can't seem to locate the ribbon cable itself...any ideas?

2.) Also would be possible to us give a step by step of the installation from scratch..like what panel underneith the 3500 to unscrew first and proceed from there. I have found bits and pieces in a search but not a complete "start to end" instructions and am affraid that when I am able to find the ribbon cable itself, it won;t come with any instructions. Thanks!

How did you acquire the chip? Was it a toshiba package? Mine came with Chip, mounting screw ribbon cable and stickers for fcc compliance. as for how to do it... it is fairly easy... flip table over... where it swivels.. there are four screws remover them. take cover off... it is easy if you ope door vga out and then pull up from there.

Then remove the two screws holding metal shield in place.

then remove piece of tape and then place chip on board add screw and then attach ribbon with exposed contacts side up. then add antennae replace tape then reassemble.. voila

Where did you get the Bluetooth chip from and how much was it? I don't really have a need for BT right now, but it's a nice option.

Wow, Thanks for the pictures and descriptions! If you look at your last picture, I have the tiny board containing the BT chip. What I need is the small screw and the ribbon cable. I still trying to get them...and wish I had some luck. By the way I wish before you installed it, I had asked you to read the numbers on your chip (the underside of the little board containing the BT chip, to make sure I have the right one. I also have some stock numbers on the cardboard box the chip came in. I purchased the chip from another TabletPC Buzz member quite some time ago, knowing all he had was the chip. Oh well, back to my search. By the way, where did you get (purchase) the entire chip, screw and cable from? Thanks!

Thanks for all the info, it's appreciated. Just out of curiosity, may I ask which on line site did you order the Bluetooth module kit from? Did they have it in stock and were they reliable in shipping promptly?

I had my purchasing department get it.. so if anything they got it from toshiba direct or CDW

Thanks again! Now if I can only find some source that has the ribbon cable, I would be able to install the Bluetooth chip I have already. I know some are in the same boat as I am in regard to finding a source for the ribbon cable.
