KJPenny,
Run a search on this Acer subforum and you'll turn up quite a few threads on upgrading c11x's WiFi and HD.
It is doable, but I think it'd void your warranty.
Is it possible to upgrade the Wireless 802.11 b to 802.11 g in the C110 series?
Also, how tricky is it to upgrade the Hard-drive?? Can you just "ghost" a drive to another and have it boot alright?? :?:

I suspect changing the wireless would void your warranty, but changing the harddrive is only undoing one screw. I believe its meant to be user replacable.
I upgraded my hd to a hitachi 7k60 and my wifi to a 2200BG
everything is perfect
Well the C112 runs a Centrino processor anyway so replacing the wi-fi in that is a little like trying to do a heart transplant. Best option in my mind if you wanna upgrade is to slap a PCMIA card or USB dongle in and go that way.
Nah, its not that hard. You just take the mini-PCI off the chip and replace it. I think you have to change one jumper, but there is a thread about this already.
If it's just a question of surfing and downloading from the web, you might not notice a differenc between g or b wifi. I think the big difference is if you're doing local file sharing on a network. It might not be worth the trouble to swap out the b.
I also replaced my hard drive with a Hitachi 7k60 (60 GB, 7200 RPM) without any problem. I installed Windows from scratch on the new drive, but if you don't want to do that you can use Drive Image, Ghost, or Partition Magic to move your old drive over. The first thing you need to do is remove any BIOS password you have on the old hard drive. At that point you can put the old hard drive in an external USB enclosure and it is accessible from the newer versions of drive imaging programs. You can boot off the imaging CD, and copy your existing partition(s) from the old drive directly to the new one.
If you do that, you can also reformat your old drive and use it as an external backup drive.
