Try this. Go to tour Bios screen. At start when you see the grey bar on the bottom of screen, press the Jog Dial button in a couple of times, this will bring up the Bios screen. Press F9 - this will ask you to load default configuration, click you and follow the prompts. this should get you back to a clean log in. What were you doing before this happened? You may have to go into safe mode to clean up whatever caused the problem in the first place.
    Cheers

Sorry that didn't work. Can you load into Safe mode? Click F8 a bunch of times as soon as you see the black screen. There is an option to start last good configuration. Failing that call HP support its a bit hit and miss but is fairly quick.

    Good Morning Osteocruncher,

I recommend trying a safe-mode start-up. Do so by pressing your “F8 Key” as the computer transition from the BIOS load to the O/S load. If you get the same cycle, you will need to do an in-place repair. An in-place repair requires your windows XP CD, from which you must boot, then select the 2nd repair option.

If you need more information on in-place repairs, please go to the link below.

I like Jim's idea, but I'm going to guess you don't have an XP CD handy. l assume your warranty goes where you go. Go to www.hp.com you can get the relevant support numbers. Their on-line remote support is actually remarkably fast as well.

you could try to disable auto-restart following errors.
press Fn8 when the XP boot screen appears, and choose disable auto-restart
if it works, I would recommend using system restore to go back to a time when the tablet was booting correctly.
    Hope it works

Without your Windows XP CD, you are limited in solving this problem. Try drscomo's suggestion.

Yes, you need the Tablet PC Edition of Windows XP. Perhaps not a good suggestion, but you may have to purchase XP locally to resolve this problem and make your presentation.
