Yes, you can use an eraser pen. You don't need to do anything to get it to work. They only thing I would recommend (although not necessary) is re-calibrating.
The wacom penabled cross pen is great.
I have gotten a great amount of info from this site. A big thank you to everyone on it! I have just purchased my first tablet pc and have a question about the pen. Can I use an eraser pen with an M1400? If so, do I need to do anything special to get it to work?

I use the Wacom eraser pen and it is fine. Only problem is it doesn't have a tab on it, so while it fits in the holder on the M1400, there is no easy way to get it out.
I'm not aware of any eraser pen that does fit but is still removable but would like to hear from anyone who knows differently.
