Or, for that matter, any other non-Word based email editor?

    And how?

Does anyone know if there are any plans to add ink capabilities to Thunderbird? I've dumped as much Microsoft as I can (Outlook, OE, IE), but I really miss the ability to write out emails by hand.

It would be nice to have, I agree. I am currently using outlook on the tablet, but it is out of line with the rest of the PCs which use eudora and I really don't like outlook.
Having said that, I used eudora before I reinstalled and just wrote out everything with the tip, but I would like an email client (and news for that matter) that I could write in my own scrawl and send as text or the occasional actual handwriting message.
I doubt there are any plans to add ink to thunderbird as it is hard enough getting the tip to work in firefox.
Hopefully something will come along in the not too distant future as I tend to not use the tablet for email or news at the moment, which restricts its usefulness somewhat. If it doesn't, I am going to write something. Maybe that isn't such a bad idea anyway!

When inking starts to appear in non-Microsoft mainstream applications and only then will the tablet have a secure future as a market segment. I think it will appear in such applications when enough tablets are being sold, perhaps one million a year.

Well, maybe someone will develop an extension for Thunderbird... hint, hint.

So what are you actually after? Being able to send as ink, being able to send as an image of ink or being able to send as text that you inked in?

This seems like a great extension using InfiNotes, except you would probably have to send the e-mail as an image for those poor users that can't run InfiNotes (Mac, Linux, Win98).

Well, I don't know anyone that runs Win98 or linux on the desktop so they are OK, The default OSX client displays pictures inline, so that isn't a problem.
I would want to continue emailing in plain text for the most part, but I want to write and edit in ink.
But you are right, it does seem like a good test for infinotes

I'm looking to email notes that appear as ink handwriting, without conversion.

I'd like the ability to be able to send emails out as ink and appear as ink to other tablet users. My guess is that ink must convert to in-line graphics for anyone not using a tablet? But my personal usage will be between tablet users, so it's not a problem.

With the concern over graphics in emails nowadays, I guess converting ink to graphics will be a problem in its own right.

Maybe this can't happen until ink is ubiquitously accepted in all operating systems.
