Default Odd little problem here. Everytime I boot my m2

Odd little problem here. Everytime I boot my m200 the virtual keyboard appears on the blue windows screen. This problem started with SP2 and I have yet to get rid of it.

On the boot screen (after windows in loading) it appears way before any progams are loaded and I can actually see the desktop. I can click on it and move it around, but there is no way to x it. Anyone have any thoughts?

If you have your tablet set up to autologin, without a Ctl-Alt-Del, you would get something similar. The keyboard comes up at the Ctl-Alt-Del prompt, which is very fast to come up with XP, despite windows having to load heaps of stuff after that. So the keyboard probably pops up right at the start of the process, way before it loads the user profile, switches wallpapers, and logs you in. I guess what I'm saying is that it sounds normal...

I do have the tablet setup to auto login, but I guess I still do not understand why it needs to be there. It is also the last thing to go away when I shutdown. There must be some way to disable it from showing up. If it is being loaded before the user profile, and all the other hoopla, the autoexec.bat or config.sys must be telling it to start. Now if I knew what the process was called, I could go hunt it down and stop it.

Does yours do this? I still don't think it is normal.

It is the first thing to show up on my screen as well, and the last thing to disappear. I don't see it as a problem. What about it is bothering you? The keyboard is not a security problem and it is a part of the base OS.

You're forgetting that you are running Tablet OS, and it assumes that you may not have a physical keyboard, and will therefore give you the soft one at an early stage in the boot process. For instance, if you had a Tablet without a Ctl-Alt-Del button, and no keyboard (they are out there), then you would definitely want it at the start. You may want to stop your startup group from loading, and in your configuration where it auto logs in, your only option is to tap the shift button on that keyboard if you are in tablet mode.

It comes up so that if you need to do a sign in procedure (for network users especially), you have a way to do so without a keyboard. Remember that the Tablet OS is designed for slate users as well and a keyboard is not always available. When booting, the TIP isn't available and the keyboard you see is the substitue until the rest of the system boots.

It is the designed behavior for just the reasons stated.
