Not sure what you need to know. Probably you should start with a few hours using Windows Journal (comes with the tablet) to take and search notes. When you use handwriting, use cursive rather than block letters.
Hello everybody, I'm about to take the plunge and get an M200.
I've read most of the FAQ, but I'd like to get input from you guys- is there anything else I should know before getting one?
I'm about to buy it from a 3rd party seller, he's reputable and says that it's new. I think it has a 1.6 baninas, and it comes with the PA3352U-2CD2. Is this an issue? I see some controversy over CDRW/DVD drives here, but frankly, I'm still confused after reading many threads [cry]
Also, how does the standard 3 year warranty work?
Thanks [8D]

Unfortunately there is no easy answer to the optical drive issue. Some have the same model you are referring to and they work as advertised. For some the opposite is true. This is probably why it is tough to sort our from reading the many threads on the subject.
I wish there was a clear answer to your question but there is not.
Beyond that, you should know that you are getting a great machine.
Thanks!
Should cursive be used because its faster or what?
Also, does the DVD/CDRW drive have hardware issues or what? Is it possible for me to use my own copy of WinXP(TE) and reformat, or is it a problem with the drive itself?
:D
Oh Gawd, are you serious that cursive writing is better? I can't read my cursive to save my life.
If you wish to convert from handwriting to text the recognition engine just does better of you write incursive. It really doesn't have to be all that legible or properly spelled. I am doing this post in my nasty cursive writing and I haven't had to make any corrections. But really for taking notes and what not you really don't even want to covert the test, so write however you feel, just as long as you can read it.
I use a combination of cursive and non-cursive writing. Over time you will learn what works best for you when it comes to writing for recognition. I'm often amazed at how well the recognition is compared to how bad my handwriting is. Sometimes the recogniton is better the worse I scribble.
The recognition works on context for each letter. Cursive allows the recognizer to use adjacent letters to assist in recognizing this one. The samples the recognizer uses to figure out what your pen scratchings are are primarily words rather than single letters.
hi wtf,
I think you should get this beauty (and the drive as well) and enjoy...
There might be minor problems here and there but the mayority here seems very happy with this machine.
So am I. :)
