Default Well guys, I made the mistake of installing SP2

Well guys, I made the mistake of installing SP2 first before Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 Recognizer Pack. According to the MS website that I won't be able to install Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 Recognizer Pack if I have already installed SP2. But I ran the installation anyway and it seemed it was installed correctly. My questions are:
    1. How can I tell if the Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 Recognizer Pack was truly installed? (I know that is a stupid question)

    2. If I didn't install correctly, is there a way to install Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 Recognizer Pack at all? Is that meant I have to un-install SP2 first? (Is that even possible?) Then install the Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 Recognizer Pack. After that re-apply SP2?

I hope I was not the only one out there who did that! :(

I guess one way to test if it is installed is to install another language and see if it has a handwriting recogniser. I am fairly sure that you can install it after installing SP2. It would be a bit silly if you couldn't, that was the issue with the original and new computers now come with SP2 already so some people have no choice.

I believe they now have the recogniser pack working for post SP2 installs as well.

I am in the process of restoring my hard drive and when I tried to install the recognizer pack 2005, I got an error message that said I could not do it until I installed SP2. So there you go.

Thanks guy. Apparently, Microsoft pulled the original additional information section that stated that Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 Recognizer Pack can't be installed on a XP SP2 system.

The original Tablet PC recogniser pack couldn't be installed on an SP2 system.

What is the point in installing this unless you need other language recognition? Am I missing something here?

    Good Morning,

In theory, you are correct; however, the recognizer pack has fixed problems other were having with the TIP. See the following:

This solution has worked for others:

Consider Markas' solution below that solved a TIP problem:
quote:Found the answer! After installing SP2, I d/l'd and installed Tablet Recognition Pack for Windows 2005 at:

    Reboot and it's OK!
It seems the symptoms are similar.
