Ditto, as soon as i buy one im gonna look into getting an exteneded accidental damage warrenty just to be on the safe side
Hi,
Am thinking of buying a new tablet pc and currently the TC1100 is the top of the list. One thing I am wondering: has anyone who lives in the UK (where I live) had to send one back, and what sort of response/turn around did you get from HP?
I'm worried about being pc-less for long times as the unit will be used every week as an admin tool in a game, and will let people down if it's not around.
Cheers
Blakey

Hi,
Blakey, you should put your country in your posts, so that in future people who are helping you with something will be able to know where to point you for help.
I haven't had to send my TC1100 back (although I could do as I have a minor problem - just too minor to be without my tc1100!), but I have sent a TC1000 back in twice.
HP have been pretty good here. You ring their 0845 number and get a case raised, they tell you to remove your pen/battery/external bits, then you get a call from their agent to arrange a time to pick it up, the delivery guy turns up with a box and packs it in the box for you (they have to do it themselves for insurance purposes) then 3-5 days later, he turns up again with your (hopefully) fixed tablet.
It is fairly quick and not too painfull! If you play your games at the weekend, if you make sure you get it sent on the monday, it will be back in time for the following weekend.
Oracle - you may find that your tablet is covered by your household accidental damage policy, and if not it is often easier to get that extended to cover it. When I dropped my powerbook and damaged the screen it was replaced by 'More Than', our current insurers without too much hassle.
Woody,
Have added my country to my profile. Thanks for the tip.
We play on Wednesdays as it happens, but that sort of turn around is a great plus. I was expecting it to be a matter of weeks. Thanks for the good news.
Looking increasingly likely to order myself a TC1100 I think...

As long as you make sure you break it on a thursday morning then you should be ok!
:-)
I've not had to send the whole TC1100 back but I needed a replacement keyboard. They confirmed my diagnosis over the phone and sent out a new keyboard out which arrived the next day - if I remember right. I've no complaints so far.
